What amazes me must about these big engines is their slow speed and minimal vibration. 22 to 102 rpm

Just got off a cruise ship with several of the slightly smaller versions of these and I went all over the ship trying to find a place you could really hear and feal the engines and you couldn't. They are amazing. .. super dirty, but amazing

In college, I had a job at a cogeneration plant. I was night shift operator on four of these engines. Not as big as the one in your picture, but see the connecting rod in the foreground for scale.
